About NOCTI Compass
Why We Built This
Career and Technical Education programs work with assessment data that's dense, fragmented, and hard to act on. Teachers get spreadsheets. Administrators get summary reports. Students — the people most affected — often see nothing at all until it's too late to course-correct.
We built NOCTI Compass because we believe that teachers, program coordinators, and students deserve tools that make assessment data immediately useful. Not buried in PDFs. Not locked in proprietary formats. Visual, comparable, and actionable.
When a CTE instructor can see at a glance which competencies are lagging — and how their program compares to state and national benchmarks — they can adjust instruction in real time, not after the school year ends. That's the difference between data that sits in a drawer and data that drives improvement.
What Compass Does
For Teachers
Upload your NOCTI assessment results and get a clear, visual dashboard showing student and cohort performance across every competency area. Compare your program against state and national averages instantly. Identify strengths and gaps without spreadsheet gymnastics.
For Program Coordinators & Administrators
See cross-program trends, track pre-to-post growth, and get the data you need for accreditation, Perkins reporting, and program improvement plans — all in a format designed for decision-making, not data entry.
For Students
Students can view their own results through a simple, focused interface — showing where they stand, what they've mastered, and where they can improve. No login fatigue. No confusing reports. Just the information they need to take ownership of their learning.
Our Vision
NOCTI Compass starts with dashboards. But the goal is bigger.
We're building a platform that supports the full lifecycle of CTE program improvement:
- Assessment analytics — clear, visual, comparative dashboards for every stakeholder.
- Growth tracking — longitudinal views that show whether programs are improving year over year.
- Standards alignment — connecting assessment results back to specific industry standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Instructional tools — competency-specific resources, practice items, and lesson-planning aids tied directly to the areas where students need the most support.
- Program benchmarking — aggregate, anonymized comparisons across programs, states, and national cohorts to surface what's working.
The long-term vision: a CTE ecosystem where data flows from assessment to instruction to improvement in a continuous loop, and where every program — regardless of size or budget — has access to the same quality of insight.
Who We Are
NOCTI Compass is developed by a small team that has spent years working at the intersection of CTE data, educational technology, and program improvement. We're not a venture-backed startup trying to disrupt anything. We're builders who saw a gap — CTE programs deserve tools as good as the ones general education takes for granted — and decided to fill it.
We work with CTE directors, program coordinators, and classroom instructors to make sure Compass solves real problems, not imagined ones. If something doesn't work for teachers, we fix it. If a feature adds complexity without value, we cut it.
